Jewish Learning Venture is proud to honor Marcy Bacine, a leader par excellence whose dedication to our mission is heartfelt and inspiring.
Since her high school days, Marcy has been passionate about improving the lives of young children. After earning a degree in Early Childhood Education at Temple University and then working in Head Start, Marcy combined her strong Jewish identity with her professional career and became the first director of the Terri Lynne Lokoff Early Learning Center, for Federation Early Learning Services.
Marcy’s involvement with Jewish Learning Venture began at the behest of Joseph Levine (z”l) and flourished when Hershel Richman asked her to join our Board of Directors. As a new grandparent, she wanted a Jewish way to connect grandchildren and grandparents in the context of our work. Her idea blossomed into our jkidphilly Grandparents’ Celebration, a successful multi-generational fundraiser that the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, founders of PJ Library, embraces and promotes as a model to be emulated throughout North America.
For decades, Marcy has been an active volunteer and leader at Germantown Jewish Centre, having served in many roles, including president of the Women’s Club. She is involved with Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, currently serving as co-chair of the Grants Committee of Women of Vision, the Philadelphia Jewish Women’s Foundation. She is also a past president of, and remains active in, the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation, an advocacy organization working for the improvement of childcare nationally.
Join us on Tuesday, May 17th to honor Marcy and celebrate the achievements of Jewish Learning Venture.
