Beth Am Israel / B’vakasha Touch Shabbat [Please Touch Shabbat]
Our goal is to foster active engagement of young families in a spiritual, moral, learning, and socially responsible Jewish community To reach this goal, our initiative is a three-pronged approach:
Beth Tikvah B’nai Jeshurun / “Be Our Guest”
The Be Our Guest program is intended to engage non-member Preschool families so they will join the congregation. To accomplish this, we will offer a 3-part program, to encourage social connections and become familiar with community life at BTBJ. All programs will provide the opportunity for parents to connect with peers, as well as provide special programming for their children.
The three programs hosted were:
Ohev Shalom of Bucks County / Family Performance Series (FPS)
We offered cultural programs/events to bring families with children ages 0-12 into the synagogue for a positive experience of Ohev’s Jewish community and to build relationships with the Ohev family. The project aims to promote long-term membership at Ohev Shalom and to deepen the current involvement of “young families.” Key elements of the project are: 1) a number of major events to be determined, e.g. musical concerts, dance performances, play productions, with two being held in 2011-2012 and two in 2012-2013; 2) formation of a “street team” of parents to generate excitement about the series; 3) outreach to attendees in between events and after the project ends.
Congregation Kesher Israel / “No Limits…..”
Our goal is to increase engagement in religious services and energize our community through prayer. We are seeking to create meaningful, monthly Friday night Shabbat services with interactive, spiritual activities and multi-sensory resources for our families. The service leader will be engaged in other areas of our congregation as well in hopes that s/he will be able to impact other areas of our synagogue community and increase the connection to prayer life at Kesher Israel Congregation.
Congregation Rodeph Shalom / Babies at RS
A group for “hibernating moms” or mom with newborn babies, including useful parent/infant information with spiritual and relationship building components, music, etc. The program brought an infant expert together with one of the Rabbis in the congregation to allow for some Jewish focus while also providing space for connecting to other moms in a similar stage of life.
