1 pm Discussion
Guest Discussion Leader: Fran Schwartz, musician extraordinaire, will join us to share her insights and understanding of the musical aspects of this novel.
This 2016 National Jewish Book Award winner interweaves the stories of two women and more than two hundred years of Jewish history. Susanna finds an unpublished piece of music by Johann Sebastian Bach among her uncle’s papers. How did it get there? In 1783 Sara Itzig Levy receives an anti-Jewish cantata from her piano teacher, Bach’s son. This work of historical fiction traces the cantata from 18th century Berlin to the present day.
Save the following dates for other Adult Book Discussions: January 23 (The Inquisitor’s Tale), March 6 (Nine Folds Make a Paper Swan), and April 24 (After Anatevka). All book selections are available in the Meyers Library and on the library Kindles.
