“Jewish Disability and Inclusion Awareness” erev Shabbat service with guest speaker Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer

CELEBRATE DISABILITY AWARENESS AND INCLUSION MONTH:

This February, Kol Ami will join Jewish communities across North American in celebrating Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month. At this yearly month-long celebration, we rededicate ourselves to creating a truly inclusive Jewish community here at Kol Ami.

As part of our celebration, we have arranged for Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer to speak at our Shabbat Service on Friday, February 8. Gabby will share stories and insights about the Jewish values of inclusion from a personal perspective, highlighting both her journey as a mom of a son with autism and an intellectual disability, and about what she discovered when researching her book “The Little Gate-Crasher” about her Great-Uncle Mace Bugen, who was a dwarf. Gabby’s message focuses on resilience, love, and the importance of community.
