Creating Jewish Studies classrooms where strategies, tools, and interventions address Executive Functioning skills with Lorna Joffe
It is vital that Hebrew school teachers gain an understanding of developmentally appropriate executive functioning skills, when planning lessons and activities for their students. Teachers often are able to recognize students who struggle to pay attention, are disorganized, impulsive, lack flexibility and have difficulty in making transitions, act out and have frequent behavioral meltdowns. The challenge arises how and when to apply specific strategies, and interventions to help these students with executive functioning deficits.
Lorna Joffe is a passionate, special education teacher with 30 years’ experience, employed as both a General and Jewish Studies teacher at Perelman Jewish Day School in Philadelphia.
Using your Madrichim Effectively to Support All Students with Alanna Raffel
How can you engage your teen madrichim to be effective leaders and teaching assistants? Alanna Raffel will demonstrate successful ways that teens can partner with teachers to support all students, especially those who need extra learning and behavior support.
Alanna Raffel, MS, OTR/L is an occupational therapist and accessibility consultant. She graduated from the University of Maryland with dual degrees in Psychology and Dance and from Thomas Jefferson University with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. Alanna has worked as an occupational therapist in acute rehab, early intervention ages 3 to 5, outpatient, and school-based settings.
