Description: Welcome Shabbat together with Rabbi Nathan Kamesar and Hazzan Jessi Roemer, joined on the Bimah by clarinetist Larry Goldfinger, flutist Eve Friedman, and percussionist Joseph Tayoun.
This Friday also features a multidimensional program planned by Society Hill Synagogue’s Inclusion Committee for Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month (JDAIM). At some point, we will all experience living with a disability, directly or indirectly.
We’ll begin the evening with a short video, “Faith Communities and Disability.” We will then define some disability-related terminology and summarize the steps the Inclusion Committee has already taken to make Society Hill Synagogue more accessible and inclusive. This will be followed by a panel discussion led by congregants living with disabilities or who are professionals in the field. What obstacles have they encountered at SHS, and how have they been made to feel comfortable? Audience participation will be welcomed.
