A Limmud is an “A-Ha Moment”

By Philip Warmflash, Executive Director / This past Friday afternoon my family and I saw a wonderful production of Fiddler on the Roof at Arena Stage in Washington, DC.  And, you may ask, why would we go all the way to Washington to see the play?

Text as a Lens

By Elana Rivel, Associate Director / Two are Better than One, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 / This quote was written on the front of my bat mitzvah invitation. It was not anything I would be reciting during my ceremony, but it emphasized an important part of who I am – a twin. My brother and I celebrated this milestone together and our parents found a way to further connect who we were to our rich, Jewish tradition. The significance was not lost on me and, in fact, it helped strengthen the lens of how I continue to connect to the world.

The People of the Book

By Rabbi Phil Warmflash, Executive Director/  On January 26th, Jewish Learning Venture will formally launch year seven of One Book, One Jewish Community (OBOJC) with an Author Event and Book Signing featuring Michael Lavigne, author of this year’s featured selection, "The Wanting."  Arriving at this year seven milestone is quite an accomplishment and a tribute to the dedication and tenacity of a group of volunteers, many members of which have been working on OBOJC since its inception.
