Venture Israel Fellowship

ABOUT

Venture Israel Fellowship, funded by the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, aims to nurture a diverse network of Greater Philadelphia-based Jewish professionals and lay leaders eager to create robust and engaging programs that focus on the dynamic complexity of today’s Israel through the lens of Jewish identity and its evolution.

There has been no other moment in modern Jewish history where focusing on the dynamic complexity of Israel and its connection to Jewish identity has been more crucial. Professional educators, engagement professionals and passionate lay leaders situated within our Jewish institutions are highly influential and impactful in shaping our communal conversations about Israel and in ensuring that Israel will remain central to the identity of future generations. Further, bringing these educators — “Family Influencers” — together to learn more deeply about the opportunities and challenges of teaching and facilitating conversations about Israel not only within their institutions but also in the greater community can extend Jewish identity building to those beyond their institutional walls to those who may struggle with modern day Israel and its place in the lives of Diaspora Jews.

The Goal and Nature of the Venture Israel Fellowship

Israel is dynamic and complex, and initiatives within the community should reflect both of those qualities. Venture Israel Fellowship takes the lead in enhancing local Jewish education and engagement efforts by probing and reflecting on the mature, dynamic and complex Israel of today. Through a variety of seminars, trainings and group work, participants will discover how to embed innovative Israel education within their communities throughout the year.

Fellows will

  • Implement new and innovative approaches towards strategic Israel programming in partnership with an Israel Engagement Team at their home institution
  • Create Israel programming within their institutions
  • Appreciate the unique value of being an Israel-focused Family Influencer, someone who impacts and inspires families as they navigate their Jewish journeys, with this value-added opportunity for high-quality, high-impact training and development
  • Be part of a wider network of Family Influencers who are grappling with similar, complex issues around Israel education and engagement

The participants in the Fellowship are mentored and become part of a cohort of alumni post-fellowship, to ensure the cutting-edge nature of their work continues.
