“What a productive meeting! I left feeling inspired and motivated. I want to thank you and your chairs for such a great Monday.” – An Education Director Council Member
How do you make a Monday morning meeting engaging and stimulating (other than lots of coffee and snacks!)? Combine great participants, interesting activities, a knowledgeable speaker, and the opportunity to network and collaborate with colleagues. This year’s first meeting of the Education Directors’ Council on October 20th at Jewish Learning Venture did just that. Representatives from seventeen Philadelphia area congregational schools and three Jewish educational institutions gathered to share a morning of learning and discussion. What were they able to take back to their schools? An interactive activity for staff learning, ideas from educational innovations that are underway in Cleveland (another dynamic Jewish community), a glimpse of a new program on the impact of technology on our lives, ideas from around the area on extending student and family participation across the transition from early childhood education into religious school, and religious school into post-b’nai mitzvah learning, and much more.
Jewish Learning Venture is excited to offer education directors many opportunities to continue learning and working together over the coming year. Through additional Council meetings, smaller gatherings of directors interested in exploring a particular topic, Leadership Development sessions, or any of our many other programs, we look forward to another year of supporting exploration and growth in Jewish education in Greater Philadelphia.
